Included in the carefully planned programme will be visits to the Shanghai Expo 2010, a Management Workshop developed jointly with Accenture, and courses on “Doing Business in China” and “Intercultural Communication”.

The Graduation Ceremony for the Intake 2008 Shanghai MBAs will take place at the same period.

Given the economic importance of China and the specific links that tie Euromed to Jiaotong University in Shanghai, it is normal that our MBAs have the opportunity to spend 2 weeks in April on an international workshop in the city.

The trip will take place in mid April and participants will find out how to do business in the country and the key characteristics of Chinese business culture. They will visit one of the largest techno parks outside Shanghai and will follow a course on innovation & entrepreneurship with their Chinese MBA colleagues.

In this way participants can extend their professional networks and gain a better understanding of what is at stake in the international business environment.

Morocco is our nearest partner geographically, but business issues can be seen from a very different perspective on the other side of the Mediterranean.

This is one reason why a group of 12 MBA participants will be spending 2 weeks in the country in March to gain an insight into how Arab and, more specifically, Moroccan business culture functions.

Our partner, Al Akhawayn University has a campus in Ifrane to the East of the country and also in Casablanca, the business capital. The programme includes insights into how to carry out business effectively in Morocco and explains how the business, politics and religion triangle functions. Last year’s group returned very satisfied with the experience gained from the programme.

The idea is to simulate the methodology of an international business consulting mission.

Our partner institution, Rollins College in Orlando, has identified a client with a problem. The Florida wine industry does not sell enough of its wine in its own state. It wants advice on: – What policies to adopt to improve the situation – The utility of employing someone full time to deal with the problem.

Three World Med MBA participants have carried out extensive upstream research with their two Rollins MBA partners on the subject. They have had two teleconference calls and one Skype meeting.

From March 6, accompanied by Professor Roland Bel , they will be in Orlando for a week to visit wineries and prepare their preliminary consultancy report for the client. The final full report will follow in a few weeks. In this way World Med MBA participants can acquire hands-on experience on how to plan, execute and present international consultancy projects.

During the last week in January we received the visit of 12 senior executives who came to Marseille in search of new thinking in three key areas: -Sustainable development -French Business culture and decision making processes – Innovation & entrepreneurship.

Tobias Hahn, Yahia Zoubir and Roland Bel gave three highly acclaimed conferences to the group. A programme on similar lines is already planned for next January. The programme ended with a suitably ecological but bucolic visit to Chateau Ferry Lacombe for a tasting and lunch.

6 o’clock in the morning on January 7 saw the arrival at Charles de Gaulle of 29 participants on the Executive MBA in Shanghai.

Representing several different nationalities they were met in the snow by Andrew Roberts. Their brief stay in Paris included a visit to the Louis Vuitton factory at Asnières and an introduction to the masterpieces displayed at the Musée D’Orsay.

On their arrival in Marseille the group followed a 2 day seminar on Leadership. Prof.Yahia Zoubir then explained how to do business in France successfully, and more generally how to communicate effectively in an international environment.

The programme ended with a visit to CMA-CGM including a presentation by Vice-President Claude Lebel subtitled in Chinese. Another group went to Grasse to visit the Fragonard perfume factory. We look forward to welcoming another group (of 60 MBAs this time) in May.
